Leading online gaming software developer Net Entertainment has recently announced that its hugely popular games will now be available on gambling websites operating in the Romanian iGaming space. Earlier this year, in May, the Swedish company had been licensed by the Romanian gambling authority, the National Gambling Office, to offer its products to gambling customers from that country. However, the company had to complete an integration process before the games could go live to the new market which is why the games have gone live only now.
The iGaming industry in many European jurisdictions, especially in Eastern Europe where the industry is relatively new and not fully developed, have been under pressure since the last couple of years to open up to international operators. Gaming regulators in these countries are beginning to change their gambling frameworks so as to attract major operators and provide customers with a wide range of products to choose from. The industry can be a great source of revenue to governments as long as it is managed well. Furthermore, the interests of individual gamblers can only be looked after in a well regulated market.
Net Entertainment Malta Managing Director and Chief of European Market Operations Enrico Bradamante sounded very upbeat about the latest development saying that it is in line with the company’s worldwide growth strategy of operating in multiple regulated jurisdictions. The fierce competition in the iGaming industry makes it necessary for companies such as Net Entertainment to reach as wide an audience as possible, and this is not possible if the company restricts itself to a few markets. As a major distributor of gaming content, it is only to be expected that the company has acquired licenses in many regulated European markets including the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, and Estonia. The company is also licensed in the major gambling hubs of Alderney, Malta, and Gibraltar.
The iGaming industry in Romania is one of the last to hold out against foreign operators but its gambling laws have finally been changed to accommodate the present realities of the industry. The online gambling industry in Romania is proving to be very attractive to major operators and a few of them had applied to get full licences from the East European country’s gambling authority. NetEnt was the first of these companies to get a pair of Class 2 casino licenses, but more operators are expected to follow suit. As a matter of fact, other industry majors that have received licenses from the country’s regulator are NYX Gaming Group, Yggdrasil Gaming, PokerStars, SBTech, Evolution Gaming, and 888 Holdings.
The foray into Romania is indeed a major step for Net Entertainment but the company has another new product to delight its customers. It launched Net Entertainment Live Mobile this month to capture the current craze for mobile banking. Net Entertainment Live Mobile is a pioneering product that enables players to access live casino using their smartphones or mobile devices.
